Title: "When Low-Tech Meets Hi-Tech: Unconventional DB Storage Solutions"

Hey guys, I'm here to spark some discussion on using unconventional storage solutions for databases. I've been experimenting with old-school technologies like optical storage (CDs, DVDs) and even USB sticks for storing smaller datasets. Anyone else tried anything similarly unconventional?

"I've heard of people using old hard drives as a backup solution due to their low cost and decent storage capacity. It's not the most innovative idea, but it works for small-scale applications or for those who can't afford top-of-the-line storage solutions."

"Love the idea of using unconventional storage solutions, OP. I've seen some people use old hard drives as disk images for archival purposes - it's a cheap way to store a ton of data, but makes backup and recovery a pain. Has anyone tried using Raspberry Pi's as a storage server?"

"Interesting topic, guys. I've experimented with using old USB drives as cold storage for some of my crypto, and it's been a decent solution. Anyone tried using external hard drives or even SD cards for more scalable storage?"

"Dude, I was thinking about using a Raspberry Pi and a USB drive array for a project I'm working on - sounds crazy, but it actually worked out decently. Anyone else try something similar? What kind of performance did you guys get?"
