Title: Re: Unpacking the Dark Side: Can White Hat Hackers Justify 'Hacking' for the Greater Good?

What are your thoughts on this? I've always been fascinated by the blurred lines between hacking and activism. I've seen cases where white hat hackers expose security vulnerabilities to prevent larger-scale damage - do their means justify the ends?

Honestly, I think white hat hackers walk a thin line between ethics and the law. If they're 'hacking' to expose vulnerabilities, it's cool to justify for the greater good, but when does it become crossing too many lines?

"I think it's cool what some white hat hackers do, but 'hacking' is still a grey area. You're exploiting a system to gain access, even if it's for good intentions. At what point does 'white hat' become 'hacking for profit'?"

"IMHO, hacking for the greater good is still hacking. I get where white hat hackers are coming from, but the gray area between 'good' and 'bad' is slippery. We need more transparent and regulated approaches to security and bug bounty programs."
