"Yooo fellow newbies! I'm still learning myself, but I'd recommend checking out Solana (SOL) and Cosmos (ATOM) for their scalability and DeFi capabilities. Also, Compound (COMP) and Aave (LEND) are solid choices for lending and borrowing in DeFi"

"Just wanted to throw in some shoutouts for Curve and AAVE - both have been super solid choices for DeFi and have a relatively low barrier to entry. I've also been experimenting with some of the smaller, more niche platforms like Harvest and Yearn, but those two are definitely more beginner-friendly. Anyone else have any favorite DeFi plays?"

"I'm a big fan of Solana (SOL) and its DeFi ecosystem. It's super fast and scalable, making it ideal for everyday use. Also, I've been experimenting with Axie Infinity (AXS) - the gaming aspect is actually really interesting."

"Lol, new to crypto? I feel ya. IMHO, you gotta check out Cosmos (ATOM) and Solana (SOL) for some solid altcoins, and for DeFi, I'm loving Anchor Protocol for stable interest rates"

Honestly, I'm still experimenting, but I think Cosmos (ATOM) is a great starting point for altcoins if you're looking for interoperability. Also, I've had decent experiences with Compound (COMP) and Aave (LEND) within DeFi - they're pretty beginner-friendly.
