Title: Lost in Space? - The Best Alternative GPS Options for Off-Grid Adventures

Hey everyone, I'm planning a solo hiking trip to some remote wilderness area next month and I'm getting a bit worried about staying on track. Traditional GPS devices have come a long way, but I'd love to hear some advice on alternative options like satellite messengers, LIDAR devices, or even old-school dead reckoning methods. Who's got some insight to share?

"Dude, have you looked into using satellite phones for navigation? Companies like Garmin or DeLorme offer GPS-enabled satellite phones that can help you stay connected even in the most remote areas. Saved my bacon on a solo hike once when I got lost"

"Hey guys, just wanted to throw my two cents in - have you all considered using satellite messengers like Garmin inReach or DeLorme? These things can be a game-changer out in the wilderness when you've got no cell signal, plus they let you send SOS messages in case of an emergency."

"Dude, I've been using the Holux M-241 GPS module for my off-grid adventures and it's been a game-changer. The thing is waterproof and super compact, so you can toss it in a pack without worrying about it getting damaged. Anyone else using this thing or have any other recs?"

"Dude, I've been relying on my trusty Garmin eTrex for years, and it's been a lifesaver on those solo hikes. The built-in compass and altimeter are super handy, and the battery life is insane. Anyone else a fan of the eTrex or have alternative GPS recommendations?"

"Lol, been down that rabbit hole myself. For off-grid adventures, I swear by using a combination of Locus Map and OpenStreetMap on my Android phone - saved my bacon in some tight spots, navigation-wise. Anyone else give it a go?"
