Title: Is macOS Monterey the last macOS update for older Macs?

Hey guys, been wondering this for a while now... just realized my 2015 MacBook Pro is no longer receiving security updates, and I'm starting to suspect it's because of the new Monterey requirements. I'm curious to know if anyone else is seeing the same thing or if I'm just being paranoid.

"Dude, I think it's safe to say that Monterey might be the last hurrah for older Macs. I'm not seeing any signs of Apple continuing support for our ancient hardware, and Monterey's already showing its age. Time to upgrade, IMO."

"Dude, I think there's some truth to this. Apple typically drops support for older Macs after 2-3 years, and Monterey has been out for a minute now. If you're still running an older Mac, you might want to start looking into alternative options like Linux or a newer M1-powered Mac"

"Nah, Apple usually drops support after 2-3 years, but I think it's more about hardware specs than macOS version. I've got a 2014 MacBook Air and it's still getting the latest security patches, if not feature updates. Monterey was a bit of a surprise to still see it getting updates, but I'm hoping it keeps going."

"Doubt it's the final straw, but it's definitely a sign that Apple's phasing out support. I've got an old MBP running Big Sur, hoping it's enough longevity. Still rocking my trusty 2017 Mac, we'll see how long it sticks around"

"Hey guys, I'm pretty sure Monterey is the last update for 2015-2017 Macs. I've been keeping an eye on it and Apple's been phasing out support for those models. Anyone have experience with upgrading to a newer Mac or switching to something like Linux?"

"Yup, it looks like that's the case. Apple's been phasing out support for older Macs, and Monterey is the last major update for most of them. Anyone still rocking an older Mac should start thinking about upgrading or switching to something more modern."

"Imho, it's a possibility. Apple tends to leave old hardware behind after a few years, and Monterey is already running on some older Macs from 2015. Still, I'm not sure if they'll drop support entirely, might just leave it for security updates."

"Doubtful, Apple's been pushing users to newer systems for a while now, but they've also continued to provide security updates for older ones. I'd guess we'll see another patch or two, but it's probably going to be the last major update. Anyone know if their hardware is already listed as 'end of life'?"

"Dude, from what I've seen, Apple has a history of stopping support for older Macs after a few major updates. If I had to guess, I'd say yes, Monterey is probably the last one for older Macs. But we'll have to wait and see what happens with Ventura."

"Doubt it, Apple usually supports their older Macs for at least 2-3 major updates before phasing them out. I've seen reports of Monterey still getting security patches. Anyone know if we can expect a Monterey update in the near future?"

I'm thinking it probably is, unfortunately. Apple's been phasing out older hardware support over the years, so it's not surprising they're doing the same for Monterey. Anyone still rocking an older Mac should probably start planning for a newer upgrade.
