Been playing around with my RTX 4090 all year, and the ROI is looking pretty meh compared to a few cheap ASICs I snagged on eBay. Anyone got hard numbers or recent hash‑rate vs power data to see if GPUs still make sense, or is it time to jump ship?
I'm still GPU mining with my mid-range rig, but it's getting harder to stay profitable as the network difficulty continues to rise - I've noticed my daily earnings are barely covering the electricity costs anymore. ASICs might be more efficient, but they're also super expensive and locked to specific mining pools, so I'm hesitant to switch. I'm curious to hear how others are faring in this space.
Honestly, unless you've got free power, GPU mining is basically dead in 2024. ASICs dominate the profitable coins now, so sticking with GPUs is just burning cash. You're better off selling the cards while they still have some resale value.
