"Hey guys, just wanted to start a thread about unlocking 'Survival Mode' in Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2). I know it's been out for ages, but I've just discovered it and I'm loving the extra challenge. Has anyone else managed to unlock it and what tips do you have for beating it?"

"Yooo, I'm pretty sure you gotta do a specific save sequence to unlock the secret mode, can't remember the exact steps tho. Anyone got a link to a wiki or something that explains it? Was trying to do it last night but ended up stuck on a hard spawn"

"Alright guys, I finally figured out how to unlock the secret mode: you gotta get all 5 medals on Hard difficulty in Campaign mode, not versus. Make sure to save your progress after each level, it's easy to mess up and have to restart. Anyone else get stuck on that one medal?"

Yooo, I'm pretty sure I unlocked that secret mode back in '09. Just remember to have a 4 player session with a specific character order (Bill then Francis then Louis then Rochelle) and a map called "Dead Center". You gotta do this in just the right way and it should unlock the mode.

I'm pretty sure the secret mode is triggered by playing through the campaign with at least 10 Expert difficulty runs completed, but I could be wrong. Anyone confirm this? Been trying to unlock it for a year now.

"Dude, I got this trick for ya - it's a little-known glitch that lets you access the secret mode, but you gotta play co-op on hard difficulty. Make sure you spawn in the correct spot, then die and restart your character, but don't wait for respawning, just quickly exit to the main menu. Been using it for years"

The trick to getting the 'The Sacrifice' achievement is actually quite simple - just make sure your demo man character stays dead for exactly one minute after being killed by the tank and the rest will follow. "Yeh, I've got a tip for those who can't unlock it yet. The secret mode can only be accessed on a LAN (local area network) with 4 other players and a specific code inputted. Just make sure to set your game directory to the correct path, and the code will show up in the game"
