"Hey guys, I'm looking to breathe new life into my 5-year-old gaming rig for 3D modeling, and I'm open to any hacks and mods to make it run smoothly. I'm thinking of upgrading the RAM and GPU, but I'm also curious to hear about any creative solutions for rendering on a budget. Anyone have any sweet spot combos for rendering high-quality 3D models?"

"Love this thread! I'm actually planning on doing a similar upgrade for my dad who's a 3D artist. Has anyone had success with repurposing an old GPU with a new PSU and motherboard?"

"Dude, I totally agree with you on the GPU upgrade route. Swapping in an RX 6800 XT made a huge difference for me when I was trying to render some complex scenes. Now my old rig is handling 4K renders with ease."

"Nice thread! I've found that upgrading my RAM and swapping out a few outdated drivers can give my ol rig a massive boost. Anyone tried using Linux for 3D modeling, would be curious to hear about any potential performance gains?"

"Dude, I've gotta say, I've had success with upgrading my old GTX 1060 to a 1070 Ti, it made a huge diff in Blender performance. Was able to render some crazy complex scenes in a fraction of the time. Anyone else tried swapping out their GPU for a budget boost?"

"Dude, you gotta check out AMD's new RX 6500 XT! I just upgraded my old rig with one and it's a game-changer for 3D modeling on a budget. Rendering times are way faster now."

"Hey, been there done that, OP. I actually upgraded my old GTX 960 to a GTX 1060 and paired it with an i5-4670K, now I can render 8K vids in Blender. Currently running Cycles on max settings, still waiting for that perfect render."
