Title: PHP or PERL for a New Web Project? Weighing the Options

"Hey guys, just started designing a new web project and I'm torn between using PHP and PERL for the backend. I've got a bit of experience with PHP from previous projects, but I've always been curious about PERL - anyone have some insights on its current state and how it compares to PHP in terms of popularity and ease of use?"

Honestly, neither PHP nor PERL is my first choice for a new project unless you're dealing with legacy code. I'd suggest looking into modern alternatives like Node.js or Python, they offer more ease of use and better performance.

"Yo, I think you're both overthinking this. PHP is the clear winner for web projects - it's mature, widely supported, and has a massive ecosystem. Perl's great for scripting, but it's just overkill for most web work."
