"Hey guys, I'm trying to optimize my file sharing setup on a VPS and I'm starting to think IPFS might not be the best choice for me. I'm looking for alternatives that are more lightweight and scalable, ideally with better storage costs. Has anyone else experimented with other file sharing solutions on a VPS?"

"Hey OP, have you considered using Filecoin? It's a more decentralized storage solution that's built on top of IPFS, but with a fee structure that incentivizes data storage providers to offer high-quality storage. It might be a good alternative, especially if you're looking for more affordable storage options."

"Hey OP, I've had good luck with NextCloud for file sharing, it's got a pretty smooth setup process and some cool features like client-side encryption. Another alternative worth looking into is ownCloud, it's pretty similar to NextCloud but has some unique perks. Both are VPS-friendly too"

"Hey OP, I've been using Nextcloud with an S3 backend on my VPS. It's pretty seamless and offers a lot of features like encryption and collaboration. Have you considered checking it out?"

I've had some success with Swarm and Filecoin in the past. Swarm's more lightweight and doesn't require mining, whereas Filecoin's got its own tokenomics and storage incentives. Worth considering if you're set on a decentralized solution.
