I've done some tests on the Blender benchmark myself, and gotta say, the $2000 card is only noticeably faster if you're rendering in 4K or with advanced lighting. For 1080p and most projects, the $500 card is more than enough. The upgrade might be worth it if you're planning some high-end commercial work.
