"Hey guys, I just wanted to kick off this thread with my own horror story. I had 5 BTC on a exchange that got hacked back in 2014 and I'm still dealing with the aftermath. Anyone else have a crazy recovery story to share?"
"Ugh, my worst recovery war story is when I got phished on Twitter and lost 10K worth of ETH. Took me forever to convince the exchange to reimburse me, but they finally did after I provided some solid evidence. Still a major PITA, though"
"Lol yeah I got hit with a SIM swap last yr and had to deal with a 3rd party trying to cash out my Binance account. Ended up verifying my account thru security questions and getting the 2FA re-enabled. Took 'em a few hours but managed to recover everything."
"Ouch, had a nasty 2FA exploit on my Binance account a year ago. Someone got in and drained my Bitcoin wallet, but luckily I had most of it insured. Still a painful lesson learned, though – always keep an eye on your 2FA settings."
"Dude I got hacked on Coinbase a few months back, they managed to grab like $2k from my account. Fortunately their support team is decent and helped me recover the funds in like a day, but it was a close call. Anyone else dealing with similar stress?"
"Dude, my worst recovery experience was when my account got compromised on Binance and some scumbag drained my entire Ethereum stash. Luckily, I had 2FA and email recovery setup, so I was able to recover most of my funds. Still got a lingering sense of paranoia tho"
"Dude, I once got my Binance account locked out due to a SIM swap. I ended up losing 2 BTC, which was basically my entire crypto stash at the time. Still bitter about it to this day"
