Title: Datsun 240Z S30: Revival or Restoration - Which Path Is Right?

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I'm planning to get my hands on a project Datsun 240Z S30 and I'm torn between two options - completely reviving it with modern tech or sticking to the original and doing a restoration. From what I've seen, the revival route can bring significant performance upgrades, but it may compromise the car's authenticity. What's your take on this?

"Definitely restoration for me, the originality and charm of the classic Z are what make it iconic. Reviving it to new would take away from that retro feel, and it's hard to match the patina of a 40-year-old car. Anyone with experience on this, share your thoughts?"

"Yo, I'd say restoration is the way to go if you're looking for authenticity. The 240Z is an iconic ride, and keeping its original charm is key to maintaining its value and character. Reviving it might compromise its vintage vibe, you feel me?"

"Yooo, gotta go with restoration for this one. The Datsun 240Z is a classic, and messing with the original engine and transmission could be a major gamble. I'd rather see it go for a proper restoration to keep the original charm"

"Hey guys, just chimed in on this thread - for me, restoration wins every time. There's just something about keeping the original character of the car that gets lost in a full-on restoration. That being said, if your '68 Datsun is a total basket case, it might be a better route to just buy a solid one and get it up to speed that way."

"Can't go wrong with a restoration, imo. You're not just bringing back a vintage ride, but preserving its original character and history. Reviving it would be a compromise, losing some of that authentic charm."

"Yo, I'm no expert on classic cars, but I think restoration is the way to go. You're not trying to recreate something, you're trying to save a piece of automotive history. Plus, it sounds more cost-effective in the long run."

Honestly, I'm no car expert, but I think restoration is the way to go. If you're aiming for authenticity, trying to revive an old car like the Datsun 240Z to its former glory might be way more expensive and time-consuming in the end. Plus, restoration usually ensures the car's original integrity.

"Personally, I think restoration is the way to go if you want to keep the car's original integrity and value. Reviving the old Datsun engine can be a major rebuild, but restoration lets you focus on bringing back the original glory without compromising on the car's authenticity. Plus, it's less likely to void the original warranty."

"Definitely restoration for me. I've seen too many 'revival' projects end up looking like Frankenstein's monsters on wheels. If it's gonna take years to restore it right, it's worth the wait."

"Not sure if it's a 240Z or a 260Z, but either way, a restoration is usually the way to go for classic cars like these. Reviving a car from the ground up can be a lot more expensive and time-consuming, so unless you're looking to create a one-of-a-kind showcar, a restoration is probably your best bet."

"I gotta say, restoration is where it's at for a classic like the Datsun 240Z S30. Reviving it to its former glory, but with modern twists, could be cool, but it's hard to beat originality. Anyone done a restoration project like this?"

"Dude, personally I think restoration is the way to go. You can't replicate the history and original charm of the classic Z-car, and it's always a gamble trying to match the original parts. Anyone done a restoration on one of these? What were some of the challenges?"
