Title: Broke But Won't Break Bank: Salvaging a Dead GPU on a Shoestring Budget

"Hey guys, I'm reaching out for some DIY advice. I've got a old GPU that's on its last legs and I'm tight on cash, so I'm looking to breathe new life into it instead of tossing it for a pricey replacement. Has anyone had success reviving a dead GPU on a shoestring budget?"

"Dude, I just replaced the thermal paste on my dead GPU and it made a huge difference. It was a $20 fix, so I'm all for salvaging old GPUs on a shoestring budget. Saved me from having to break the bank"

"just threw my old 1080ti in the freezer for a bit before trying to get it to run again - sometimes it's worth giving an old GPU one last go. what kind of temps did you get yours to drop to? also any tips on how to safely power it back up?"

"Dude, I've done this exact thing with a 6-year-old GTX 1070. Replaced the stock cooler with a $15 aftermarket one and cleaned the fans with compressed air - now it's running like new. 10/10 would recommend."

"Hey OP, I've had some success reviving dead GPUs by cleaning the capacitors and reflashing the BIOS. It's a pretty delicate process, so it's not for the faint of heart. Anyone with experience in GPU tinkering, what's the most crucial thing to watch out for?"

"Lol, nice op! I tried salvaging my old 1070 with a new VRM cooler and a few extra capacitors, and it's actually still going strong after a year. Just be careful not to damage the board while you're poking around."

"Hey guys, been there done that. I managed to revive a GTX 1060 with some thermal paste and a decent cooler, now it's running stable and not draining my wallet Replacing those capacitors didn't hurt either "

"Man, I had a similar experience with my old RX 580. I managed to revive it by swapping the VRM heatsinks and cleaning out some dust that was causing instability. Now it's serving as my secondary mining rig for some low-demand coins."

"Hey guys, I've had some success reviving a dead GPU by swapping out the RAM modules - only cost me 10 bucks for the new ones. Just be careful not to damage the rest of the board when you've got the RAM out. Good luck, OP, hope you get it up and running again "
